Whistling Straits Matchbook — Vintage Wisconsin Golf Print
Whistling Straits was farmland and an abandoned airfield until Pete Dye moved several million cubic yards of earth and made it look like it had been on Lake Michigan for centuries. It opened in 1998 and hosted the PGA Championship three times and the 2021 Ryder Cup. The green man on the cover is a strange choice for a golf course — a foliate face out of medieval stonework — and it suits a place built entirely on conviction.
